The Knickerbocker Club
2 East 62nd Street
The Knickerbocker Club (known as The Knick) is a gentlemen's club in New York City founded in 1871. Its current location, a neo-Georgian structure was designed by William Adams Delano and Chester Holmes Aldrich. It resembles the big private houses that once characterized the avenue and retains a very pedigreed image. Ernest Hemingway, looking for peace and quiet, rented an apartment here in 1959 and stayed for about a year.
