The El dorado is the northernmost of Central Park West's towering buildings and is an iconic architectural landmark. Built-in 1931 and designed by Emery Roth (who designed the twin-towered San Remo and the triple-towered Beresford) in collaboration with Margon & Holder, this art deco building overlooks the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in Central Park and contributes to the much-photographed skyline of Central Park West.

This cooperative building has an impeccably maintained deco lobby and elevators, consists of about 30 stories, and 208 units of grand two to four-bedroom residences (many of which have been combined to create larger and even more palatial homes). The building's towers contain only one apartment per floor with 10-foot-high ceilings and fireplaces. Amenities include a handicapped-accessible state-of-the-art duplex fitness center, children's playroom, basketball mini-court, community room, garage, and white-gloved 24-hour doorman and concierge.

The Eldorado is located within the Central Park West Historic District designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and is a contributing property to the Federally-designated Central Park West Historic District.
