The Pierre

Welcome to 795 Fifth Avenue, Central Park East

The Pierre is a luxury hotel featuring 65 cooperative apartments. Rising 42 stories tall over Central Park allowing for unrestricted views, this legendary 5-star hotel is a prominent landmark within the Upper East Side Historic District.

In a joint venture with a group of Wall Street financiers, Charles Pierre Casalasco hired the New York firm of Schultze and Weaver to design the skyscraper, which is today a recognizable landmark on the New York skyline. Its base is limestone-fronted Louis XVI from which rise blond bricks. Its topmost floors are a system of Corinthian pilasters and arched windows with octagonal ends. The roof is slanted and copper.

In 1938, J. Paul Getty bought the hotel and converted a portion of the building to a collection of residences in 1959, selling seventy-five apartments to a cooperative of private residents while he retained control of the hotel's services and guest rooms.

The Pierre went through a $100 million dollar renovation in 2008 and the most fashionable London brasserie, The Caprice, opened in the lobby. Residents enjoy the finest Pierre Hotel personal services including 24-hour concierge, maid service (including twice daily maid service and monthly deep cleaning service), valet service, multi-lingual personnel, and Fitness Center as well as the worldly acclaimed fashionable Le Caprice Restaurant and the charm of a luxurious European residence.
